This article contains a list of commonly asked questions related to Windows 11.
How do you change Active Hours?
Active Hours is a setting that allows Windows to know when you're typically at your computer. Adjusting active hours in Windows 11 helps prevent unexpected reboots during system updates while you’re actively using your device. By default, IT&A sets active hours from 7 AM to 7 PM.
- Open Settings.
- Click on Windows Update.
- On the right, click Advanced options.
- Under Active hours, select Manually from the drop-down menu.
- Choose the Start time when you’ll be using the computer and the End time (up to 18 hours) when you won’t use it.
- Once configured, Windows 11 won’t reboot during the specified active hours when updates are pending. To revert to automatic settings, follow the same steps but select Automatic in step 5.
