Java

Enterprise systems are compatible with the latest version of Java. As of 05/30/19 the latest version is Java 8 Update 211.

Update Java

You may check and update your version of Java on their official website, or by following the steps below:

  1. Open System Preferences.
    1. If you do not have a dock icon for System Preferences, open Spotlight  in the top right of your screen in the Menu Bar, or enter Cmd⌘+Space on your keyboard.
    2. Enter System Preferences.
  2. Click Java in the bottom row of the System Preferences window. The Java Control Panel will open.
  3. Click Update at the top of the window.
  4. Click the Check Now button at the bottom of this window to perform an update check. If there is an update available, a new window will open.
  5. Click Update > .
  6. Java will prompt for administrator approval to perform the update. Click Yes.
  7. Java will download the installer, and after loading, may prompt to add a search feature and home page to your browser. Uncheck the box next to the option to add the search and home page feature and proceed through the installation.
  8. After the installation completes, Java will prompt for your default browser to open and confirm updates. You may close this window.

Nolij Web

Nolij Web utilizes java for scanning features, but does not require specific settings or configurations. Please ensure that Java is up to date if you use this scanning feature.

Parnassus Core Applications

For Compatibility reasons, Parnassus Core Applications require certain security settings disabled in Oracle Java to function. When Java is initially installed or sometimes updated, these settings may be at the default and need to be changed. When these settings are not disabled, Parnassus Core Applications will provide an error and will not open. This issue can be resolved by performing the following actions:

  1. Open System Preferences.
    • If you do not have a dock icon for System Preferences, open Spotlight  in the top right of your screen in the Menu Bar, or enter Cmd⌘+Space on your keyboard.
    • Enter System Preferences.
  2. Click Java in the bottom row of the System Preferences window. The Java Control Panel will open.
  3. Click Advanced in the top of the new window.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the list of advanced settings. A section labeled Advanced Security Settings will be visible.
  5. Uncheck Use TLS 1.2, Use TLS 1.1, and Use SSL compatible ClientHello format.
  6. Click OK at the bottom of the window.

Note that changes will take effect after completely closing out of Safari to restart your session.

Advance Web

Advance Web does not use specific Java settings to use their various features. Please ensure that, if you are using Advance Web, Java is simply up to date.
