Microsoft Windows

Apple macOS
Mac devices include built-in dictation and the Siri voice assistant.. Refer to Dictate messages and documents on Mac (apple.com).
Microsoft 365
Dictation is included in specific Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Outlook, OneNote, and PowerPoint. Refer to Dictate in Microsoft 365 (microsoft.com).
Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams offers integrated transcription features to enhance meeting accessibility and documentation. These tools are especially beneficial for faculty and staff seeking to maintain accurate records of discussions and decisions.
Live Transcription During Meetings
Teams provides real-time transcription during meetings, displaying spoken content as text alongside the video or audio feed. This feature includes speaker identification and timestamps, facilitating easy reference and review. To activate live transcription:
- Click on More actions (three dots) in the meeting controls.
- Select Start transcription.
- Confirm the language being spoken in the meeting.
After a meeting concludes, the transcript is available in the meeting's chat history. To access it:
- Navigate to the Chat tab in Teams.
- Select the meeting's chat.
- Click on the Meeting ended message, then select Transcript.
The transcript can be downloaded in formats such as .VTT or .DOCX, depending on your permissions. For more information, refer to View live transcription in Microsoft Teams meetings (microsoft.com).
