iPad First Time Setup Instructions

Faculty/Staff/Students should NOT sign into the iPad with their personal Apple ID for any reason (unless you have received an exemption from IT).

There are several applications available for download in the Self Service app that will be loaded onto the iPad automatically within few minutes after activation.

If you need a new application installed, please check Self Service first.

If what you need is not there, please fill out this form to request additional applications be added to Self Service:
 

 

  1. Turn on the iPad.

     
  2. Choose your Language

     
  1. Choose your location.

     
  2. Choose “Set Up Manually” (located at the bottom of the window)

     
  1. Choose a Wi-Fi network and enter your password if needed.

     
  1. Please wait for the iPad to be activated

     
  1. Choose “Next” in the top right of the Remote Management screen.
    NOTE: If you do not see this remote management screen, this means that the iPad was not set up correctly ahead of time, or you there is a problem with the internet connection. If this happens, please contact IT.

     
  2. Please Enable Location Services
    Note: If for some reason you do not see this screen, that is ok, it can be turned on in System Preferences.
    Once the iPad has completed setup, go to Settings ->Privacy ->Location Services, and turn on location services

     
  3. Your iPad should now be set up. The iPad should begin installing applications on its own. This will take several minutes. 

     
  4. If you see this screen, please choose Cancel. The applications will install on their own, and you should not sign into the iPad with your personal Apple ID.
