How To: Scan from a Toshiba MFP

Scanning with Toshiba MFPs and PaperCut

This article explains how to use the Toshiba Multi-Function Printers (MFPs) around campus with PaperCut to scan documents. All Toshiba MFPs on campus have scanning capabilities.

1. Logging into the Toshiba MFP

  1. Approach the Toshiba MFP and tap the screen to wake it if necessary.

  2. Enter your Ithaca College account credentials on the login screen, or scan your IC ID at the NFC reader icon to log in

  3. Once authenticated, you will see the main menu with various options.

2. How to Scan to OneDrive

  1. From the main menu, select Scan. After clicking Scan, you will see all the available scan options.

  2. Select Scan to OneDrive.

  3. After clicking "Scan to OneDrive," you will be shown a scan details page.

    a. The Path of the scan cannot be changed, as it will be saved to your IC OneDrive folder under the "Apps/Scans for PaperCut MF" folder. You can change the name of the file to be scanned.

    b. The default scan options are Black and White at 300DPI. To change the settings for a specific scan, click Change settings on the bottom right side of the screen.

  4. The default setting when you start a Scan is set to "Prompt for more pages" to be scanned. If you are scanning only one page, uncheck Prompt for more pages.

  5. Click Start to begin the scan process.

  6. The scan will take a few minutes to complete and show up in OneDrive. You will also receive an email confirmation once PaperCut has processed the scan.

  7. To access your scanned document, log in to OneDrive and navigate to the "Apps/Scans for PaperCut MF" folder.

3. How to Scan to My Email

Note: Scan to any Email is currently configured only for Library staff who can send scans to any recipient.

  1. From the main menu, select Scan. After clicking Scan, you will see all the available scan options.

  2. Select Scan to My Email.

  3. After clicking "Scan to My Email," you will be shown a scan details page.

    a. The email will be sent from your Ithaca College email address.

    b. You can modify the subject line

    c. The default scan options are Black and White at 300DPI. To change the settings for this specific scan, click Change settings on the right side of the screen.

  4. The default setting when you start a Scan is set to "Prompt for more pages" to be scanned. If you are scanning only one page, uncheck Prompt for more pages.

  5. Click Start to begin the scan process.

  6. After scanning is complete, the document will be sent as an attachment to your email address. This process may take a few minutes to complete.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with scanning:

  1. Ensure you're properly logged in with your Ithaca College credentials.
  2. Check that the document is properly placed on the scanner glass or in the document feeder.
  3. If your scan doesn't appear in the expected location, wait a few minutes, as there may be processing delays.
  4. For persistent issues, contact the IT Help Desk
