View Email Headers

This article explains how to view email headers for debugging and tracing purposes.

View email headers in Outlook for Windows

  1. Double-click an email message to open it outside of the Reading Pane.
  2. Click File > Properties.
  3. Header information appears in the Internet Headers box.

View email headers in Outlook for macOS

  1. Right-click an email message.
  2. Select View Source.
  3. Header information will appear in a new window.

View email headers in Outlook for the web

  1. Select the  ellipsis at the top of the message window.
  2. Select View message source.
  3. Header information will appear in a new window.
