Microsoft Visio is a diagramming and vector graphics application used to create flowcharts, organizational charts, network diagrams, and other visual representations. It is available on both web and desktop platforms and integrates with Microsoft Teams. This article outlines how to access the free version of Visio, and how to request a license for the full desktop version.

License Requirements

  • Anyone with Ithaca College credentials has access to the web version of Microsoft Visio.
  • Full access to the desktop version requires a Visio Plan 2 license.

Getting Started

Access via Web

  1. Go to http://microsoft365.com/launch/visio in a web browser
  2. Sign in with your Ithaca College credentials if prompted
  3. Begin creating or editing diagrams

Access via Microsoft Teams

  1. Open Microsoft Teams
  2. Navigate to the Apps section or use the Search bar to find Visio
  3. Launch Visio and begin working on diagrams directly within Teams

Install Visio (Windows)

To install the Visio desktop application on a Windows device, you must first have a Visio Plan 2 license assigned.

  1. Go to https://microsoft365.com in a web browser
  2. Sign in with your Ithaca College credentials if prompted
  3. Click the (...) Settings and more icon in the bottom-left corner next to your name
  4. Select My Microsoft 365 profile
  5. Click View apps & devices
  6. Locate Visio in the list and click Install Visio
