Student Account Access After Graduation

This article provides guidance for Ithaca College students preparing to graduate or separate from the institution. It explains how long access continues for key systems and outlines steps students should take to prevent data loss.

Most Ithaca College accounts and services discontinue shortly after a student's official separation date (graduation, withdrawal, etc.). While some services remain available for a limited period or transition to alumni access, many require action from the student before graduation.

Recommended Actions Before Graduation

Here is a summary of recommended actions to take before graduation: 

  • Set up a personal (non-IC) email address if you haven't already. 
  • Create free or paid personal accounts for tools you plan to keep using.
  • Back up or move content from OneDrive, OneNote, Teams, Adobe, Canva, Kaltura, and Zoom.
  • Download or save anything you want to keep from Canvas
  • Transfer ownership of any Microsoft Teams, Forms, or other tools you manage. 

Adobe

  • What changes: Access to Adobe applications (Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Creative Cloud for designated courses) ends upon graduation.
  • Actions to take: Transition any files stored in Adobe Cloud storage to another account before graduation.
  • Personal-use options

Canva

Canvas

  • What changes: You will lose access to Canvas about 30 days after graduation.
  • Actions to take: Download or copy any data you wish to keep before graduation.

Email and Calendar (Outlook)

Kaltura

  • What changes: You will lose access to Kaltura (media.ithaca.edu) about 30 days after graduation.
  • Actions to take: Download or copy any data you wish to keep before graduation.

Microsoft 365

Zoom

  • What changes: IC Zoom accounts automatically transition from Licensed to Basic shortly after graduation.
    • A Basic Zoom account includes: Meetings with up to 100 participants, 40 minute meeting limit
  • Actions to take: Download or move any recordings or data you wish to keep before graduation.
  • Personal-use options: 
    • Free: Create a free basic Zoom account using a non-College email address. 
    • Paid: Purchase a Zoom license using a non-College email address.

  • Note: Your IC Zoom account remains available through ithaca.zoom.us with a Basic license.
