How To: Set Up Voice Mail

This article explains how to use the voice mail system from any touch-tone telephone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The first time you use your voice mail, you must “personalize” it.

This article is intended for all faculty and staff.

Set Up Voice Mail

 Note: The default security code is 2580.

Recording Your Name

  1. Say your first and last name when prompted.
  2. Press the * to end the recording.
  3. Press 1 to change or press 2 to keep the recording.

System Directory

This option allows callers to "dial by name" to reach your extension:

  1. Press 1 for yes.
  2. Press 2 for no.
  3. Press 1 if you want to record different greetings for standard, busy, and/or alternate greetings or press 2 for the same (standard) greeting for all calls.
  4. Follow prompts to record the greeting(s).
  5. Press the * to end the recording.
  6. Press 1 to change or press 2 to keep the recording.

Security Code

  1. Follow prompts to enter a security code.
  2. Enter a security code you will not forget. When finished press the *.
  3. Re-enter your security code.
  4. When finished, press the *.

Saving Your Settings

  1. Follow prompts to save your settings or start over. Press 1 to save your settings or press 2 to erase and restart the tutorial.

Checking Messages

  1. Access your voice mail.
  2. Enter your security code.
  3. New messages are automatically played.
  4. Press * for the main menu.
