How to install Microsoft 365 on personal devices

Microsoft 365 is a suite of productivity and collaboration applications that includes always up-to-date versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Outlook, and Teams. With a single license, you can install Microsoft 365 applications on up to five devices.

Installation on Personal Devices

Windows 10 and macOS

Microsoft 365 is only available to current faculty, staff, and students. The software will stop working upon your departure from the college due to graduation, retirement, or other reasons for permanent separation. At that time, a personal Microsoft 365 subscription can be obtained if you wish to continue using the software. The new subscription will need to be acquired using a non-IC email address.

  1. Remove any other versions of Microsoft 365 on your computer.
  2. Navigate to Microsoft 365 in a web browser.
  3. Sign in with your IC email address and password.
  4. Click Install apps at the top right of the web browser.
  5. Click Microsoft 365 apps.
  6. Follow on-screen prompts to install Microsoft 365.

After the installation, Microsoft 365 will prompt you to sign in to Office to activate. After signing into a Microsoft 365 app you will be greeted with this screen. 

Click Continue

IMPORTANT STEP: Another prompt Stay signed in to all your apps will now show.
In this prompt, uncheck the Allow my organization to manage my device and click No, sign in to this app only at the bottom left.

After clicking No, sign in to this app only Microsoft 365 will load and be fully activated. 

Other Devices

Microsoft 365 is supported on iOS, and Android devices.
