
Guest printing through PaperCut allows visitors and non-IC account holders to print documents at Toshiba multi-function printers (MFPs) across campus. This service provides a convenient way for guests to access printing facilities with a simple registration process and pay-per-page pricing.

Overview
PaperCut guest printing provides temporary printing access for non-IC account holders. The process involves three main steps:
- Register for a guest account online
- Upload documents through the web portal
- Release and collect prints at any Toshiba MFP on campus
Note: All guest accounts automatically receive a $15.00 initial printing balance. Additional funds can be requested through the IC Service Desk if needed.
Printing Costs and Balance
Current printing costs are:
- Black and White: $0.05 per page
- Color: $0.15 per page
Your initial $15.00 balance provides:
- Up to 300 black and white pages, OR
- Up to 100 color pages, OR
- A combination of both
To request additional printing credit, contact the IC Service Desk and reference "PaperCut Guest Printing balance increase."
Creating a Guest Account
- Navigate to the PaperCut registration page: https://webprint.ithaca.edu/register
- Enter the following information:
- Full Name: Your first and last name
- Email: A valid email address where you can receive your account confirmation
- Username: Create a username (the system will automatically add "guest-" prefix)
- Password: Create a secure password
- Click Register to submit the form.

- Check your email for a confirmation message containing your username and password.
Important: Your username will appear as "guest-[yourusername]" (for example: "guest-jsmith"). Use this full username when logging in.
Uploading Documents to Print
Step 1: Log In to Web Print
- Go to PaperCut Web Print Portal
- Enter your guest username (including the "guest-" prefix) and password
- Click Log in

Step 2: Submit a Print Job
- Select Upload Jobs from the left menu

- Click Submit a Job

- Choose your printer queue:
- ToshibaBW for black and white printing
- ToshibaColor for color printing

- Specify the number of copies (1-25 maximum)

- Click Upload Documents

Step 3: Upload Your Files
- Click Upload from Computer or drag and drop your files into the upload area
- Select the files you want to print
- Click Upload & Complete

Supported File Formats:
• Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx)
• Microsoft Excel (.xls, .xlsx)
• Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx)
• PDF files (.pdf)
• Image files (.bmp, .dib, .gif, .jfif, .jif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tif, .tiff)
Releasing Print Jobs at a Printer
After uploading your documents, you can release them at any Toshiba MFP on campus. For printer locations, see Toshiba Printers around campus.
- Locate a Toshiba MFP on campus
- Touch the screen to activate the PaperCut login

- Enter your guest username and password
- Press Log in
- Select your print job(s) from the list

- Press Print to release your documents
- Collect your printed documents from the output tray
- Press Log out when finished
Tip: Print jobs remain in the queue for 24 hours. You can print from any Toshiba MFP on campus - just log in and select your job.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions
Cannot log in to WebPrint or printer
- Ensure you're using the full username including "guest-" prefix
- Check that caps lock is off
- Try resetting your password through the registration page
File won't upload
- Verify your file is in a supported format (see list above)
- Check that the file size is under 50MB
- Try converting the file to PDF format
Print job doesn't appear at printer
- Wait 1-2 minutes for the job to process
- Verify you selected the correct printer queue (color vs. black and white)
- Check your account balance to ensure you have sufficient funds
Insufficient balance message
- Review your recent print history in the web portal
- Contact the IC Service Desk to request additional credit
