Introduction to Microsoft Outlook for Students

This article is an introduction to using email and calendar in Microsoft Outlook. It also outlines how to use your Ithaca College email account on various platforms.

Introduction

Microsoft Outlook is the supported email and calendar application for Ithaca College. You will need to use Outlook to receive email for all official communication from Ithaca College. You could also use Outlook's calendar to keep track of your class schedules and registrar dates.

•  Access Outlook on the Web from a web browser on your PC, Mac and mobile device >
• Download the Microsoft Outlook app on Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, iOS and Google Android (see below).

Duo

You will be required to use Duo as a multi-factor authentication tool in conjunction with your Netpass username and password. Duo provides more robust security compared to only using a password, and minimizes the chance of unauthorized access to your account.

• If you are already a Duo user, you can authenticate using your preferred method.

Installation

For Microsoft Windows / PC

1.  Sign in to Office 365 with your Netpass username and password >
2. Click Install Office Apps  and click Office 2016.
3. Follow the on-screen prompts to install Office 2016.
4. Open the Outlook app and proceed to add an account.
5. Type your Ithaca College email address in the email textbox and click Add Account.
6. Type your Netpass password in the password textbox and click Sign In.
7. When prompted to use your Ithaca College account everywhere on your device, uncheck Allow My Organization to Manage My Device and click Yes.

For Apple macOS / Mac

1.  Sign in to Office 365 with your Netpass username and password >
2. Click Install Office Apps  and click Office 2016.
3. Follow the on-screen prompts to install Office 2016.
4. Open the Outlook app and proceed to add an account.
5. Type your Ithaca College email address in the email textbox and click Next.
6. Type your Netpass password in the password textbox and click Sign In.
7. If prompted to have Outlook access your macOS's keychain or if Outlook is prompting about a secure certificate, click Always Allow.

For Google Android Phones & Tablets

1.  Download Microsoft Outlook on the Google Play store for free >
2. Open the Outlook app and proceed to add an account.
3. Type your Ithaca College email address in the email textbox and press Add Account.
4. Enter your Netpass password in the password textbox.
5. Authenticate using your preferred Duo method (push, call me, enter a passcode).

For iOS / Apple iPhone & iPad

1.  Download Microsoft Outlook on the App Store for free >
2. Open the Outlook app and proceed to add an account.
3. Type your Ithaca College email address in the email textbox and press Add Account.
4. Enter your Netpass password in the password textbox.
5. Authenticate using your preferred Duo method (push, call me, enter a passcode).
