This article overviews software information, and software purchasing, for Classroom and Lab machines. IT provides commonly used software in the labs on campus, but any specialty software is up to the department to choose and purchase. If you need software installed or upgraded to support instruction, please submit the “Classroom and Lab Computer Software Request" in our Service Catalog.
Timeline & Due Dates
- Deadline for software requests for start of classes in the fall is April 15th*
- Deadline for software requests for start of classes in the spring is November 15th
- For new software requests that are submitted outside of these deadlines, expect 10-15 business days before the software are installed in your lab.
* As of the last edit of this article, the submission deadline for the Spring 2021 Semester has been extended without a determined deadline. We ask you to submit requests as early as possible for software to be installed in the Spring.

Please provide all relevant information, including the following:
- Software Version
- MacOS: Confirmed 64 bit download available; new MacOS, Catalina, does not support 32 bit software. Read more here.
- Serial numbers
- License information
- Any settings or configurations that are custom to Ithaca College -- or preferred for your use in class -- if applicable (default save locations, etc.)
- Any default settings for when the program launches
If the software is free
Please provide all relevant information, including the following:
- Software Version
- MacOS: Confirmed 64 bit download available; new MacOS, Catalina, does not support 32 bit software. Read more here.
- Serial numbers
- A specific and direct link to the download location (not the homepage for the software or company website) after testing on your own machine
- Any settings or configurations that are custom to Ithaca College -- or preferred for your use in class -- if applicable (default save locations, etc.)

Note: For free software, some require an account be made in order to access the installer files. If this is the case, it is the responsibility of the requesting faculty member to create the account and supply the installer file to IT.

The following table indicates the software that is installed on ALL public lab machines.
Note: Other software is available in some lab spaces by request, this list does not include those.
