Requesting Classroom and Lab Computer Software

This article overviews software information, and software purchasing, for Classroom and Lab machines. IT provides commonly used software in the labs on campus, but any specialty software is up to the department to choose and purchase. If you need software installed or upgraded to support instruction, please submit the “Classroom and Lab Computer Software Request" in our Service Catalog.

Overview

Purchasing

Departments are responsible for purchasing specialty software and the appropriate number of licenses. Depending on the licensing situation, IT may either make the software available in all labs, or limit it to specific labs per request.

 

If the software is licensed

Please provide all relevant information, including the following:

  • Platform (Windows or macOS)
  • Software Version
  • Lab Location, or Serial Numbers of the devices 
  • License information
  • Any settings or configurations that are custom to Ithaca College -- or preferred for your use in class -- if applicable (default save locations, etc.)
  • Any default settings for when the program launches

 

If the software is free

Please provide all relevant information, including the following:

  • Platform (Windows or macOS)
  • Software Version
  • Lab Location, or Serial Numbers of the devices 
  • A specific and direct link to the download location (not the homepage for the software or company website) after testing on your own machine
  • Any settings or configurations that are custom to Ithaca College -- or preferred for your use in class -- if applicable (default save locations, etc.)
  • Any default settings for when the program launches
