Printing Services and Methods

Mobility Print (Papercut)

Students can print to any Toshiba model printer from their personal devices using PaperCut Mobility Print. This service is ideal for printing files from phones, laptops, or apps.

No file format restrictions apply, though not all mobile apps support printing.

WebPrint (Papercut)

Any student, faculty, staff, or affiliate can use webprint.ithaca.edu to upload print jobs remotely and retrieve them at any Toshiba Printer. Webprint can be used on or off campus, but jobs can only be retrieved physically at the printer.

  • Upload print jobs remotely to WebPrint at webprint.ithaca.edu.
  • Jobs remain in the print queue for up to 72 hours.
  • Useful for printing from residential halls (via ResNet) or off-campus locations.

Faculty/Staff Printing (Toshiba MFP with Papercut)

Campus employees with an IC desktop or laptop should already have the PaperCut client installed on their device.

Faxing

  • Only certain Toshiba printers support faxing.
  • Fax numbers are listed in the printer locations article.
  • No need to swipe your ID or release the job; the fax will print automatically.

Print Allowances and Funding

  • Print Allowance:

    • Students receive a print allowance at the start of each semester.
    • Unused allowances from the Fall semester roll over to the Spring semester.
    • Unused allowances after the Spring and Summer semesters do not roll over.
  • Tracking Allowances:

    • Students can monitor their print allowances, balance history, and print jobs via webprint.ithaca.edu.
    • The “Transaction History” tab provides a log of previous print jobs.
    • Allowance remaining can also be seen by logging into a Toshiba printer.
  • Adding Funds:

    • Students can add funds to their ID Express account using machines in the library or campus center or via GET.
    • Departments or individuals can add funds to a student’s ID Express account through Student Financial Services (SFS). SFS requires the student’s name and ID number.

Printing Options and Settings

Color and Black & White Printing

  • Black and White: Available on all Toshiba printers.
  • Color: Only available on select Toshiba printers. 90%+ of printers support color on campus.
    • To print in color, choose the printer titled \\ICPRINTERS\ToshibaColor.
    • For black and white, choose \\ICPRINTERS\ToshibaBW.

Double-Sided Printing

  • Must be selected when sending the print job from your device.
  • Cannot be changed at the printer when releasing the job.

Bypass Tray Printing

  • Allows printing on personal paper instead of the printer’s default paper.
  • Inserting paper into the bypass tray should prioritize it for the next print.
  • Ideal for single prints on speciality paper and sizes.

Troubleshooting and Support

  • Refunds:

    • Requests must be made within three business days.
    • Refunds are only approved for printer malfunctions, not for errors like incorrect settings or blank pages.
    • Allow up to three business days for processing. Refunds are added to print allowances, not ID Express.
