How To Create and Schedule an Intercom Post

Tags intercom

This tutorial will walk you through the process of creating an Intercom Post, and scheduling it for the appropriate email roundup.

Below are some foundational concepts that are important to know, prior to creating an Intercom Post.

  • Intercom is a location on the Ithaca.edu website.
  • An Intercom Post is an announcement that appears on the Intercom section of Ithaca.edu.
  • An Intercom Post may be included in one or more Intercom Roundups, an email sent Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
  • A newly created Intercom Post must be added to Intercom by 11PM ET the previous night to be included in the following morning's Intercom Roundup.

    • Only the body text block is required. You may add more Text sections if your content requires such.

  • Underneath "Email Roundup Date," add the first date in which you'd like your post to be included in the Intercom Roundup.
    • This date must be one of Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. You will receive an error if you try to add an invalid Roundup date.
  • To add additional Roundup dates, select "Add Additional Roundup Date," and repeat the previous step.
  • If you wish for your post to be visible on the Intercom section of the Ithaca.edu website immediately, select the "Make visible on Intercom immediately" checkbox.
    • This is useful for limiting the spread of an Intercom Post until after its first appearance in Intercom Roundup.
  • Press "Save."

Your post is now scheduled for publication in an Intercom Roundup, and, depending on your selection, may be visible immediately on Intercom.
