Microsoft Teams Premium: Access and Use Enhanced Collaboration Features

It includes AI-powered tools such as Intelligent Meeting Recap, live translated captions, and custom backgrounds, along with enhanced webinar capabilities and meeting protections. Request a License

Faculty and staff interested in leveraging Teams Premium features such as AI Meeting Recap may submit a license request via the IC Service Portal.

Getting Started

Access via Web

  1. Go to https://teams.microsoft.com/v2/ in a web browser
  2. Sign in with your Ithaca College credentials if prompted
  3. IT recommends downloading the Teams desktop application

Windows 11 and macOS

  1. Visit https://teams.microsoft.com/v2/ in a web browser
  2. Click the (...) Settings and more icon in the top-right corner
  3. Click Get the desktop app and proceed to download

iOS and Android

  1. Visit the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)

Verify your Teams Premium License

  1. Open Microsoft Teams
  2. Sign in with your Ithaca College credentials if prompted
  3. Click the (...) Settings and more icon in the top-right corner
  4. Select Teams Premium benefits from the dropdown menu
  5. If your licenses is active, you will see the message: "You've got Teams Premium!"

Key features of Teams Premium for meetings and webinars include:

  • Intelligent Meeting Recap: Automatically generates meeting summaries, including notes, tasks, and personalized insights. AI organizes recordings into chapters and topics for easier navigation.
  • Live Translated Captions: Provides real-time captioning in over 30 languages, improving accessibility and inclusivity for global teams.
  • Advanced Webinar Capabilities: Includes attendee registration, automated confirmation emails, and engagement tracking. Supports up to 1,000 attendees. Basic webinar functionality is available without a premium license.
  • Advanced Meeting Protections: Adds watermarking, sensitivity labels to classify and protect meeting content, and end-to-end encryption for sensitive discussions. Admins can restrict recording permissions to prevent unauthorized sharing.
  • AI-Generated Backgrounds: Uses AI to create custom virtual backgrounds that enhance the appearance of a participant’s real-world environment.
  • Virtual Appointments: Streamlines scheduling and management of customer or client appointments with SMS notifications, branded waiting rooms, and usage analytics. Basic appointment scheduling is available without a premium licenses via Microsoft Bookings.
