Overview of the Windows Guest Account
The Library's public lab computers are configured with "Guest" accounts at the Windows log-on screen. These accounts are for users who do not have an IC account to log into IC computers with. The Guest account is a temporary account that is created only when needed and will be deleted on log-off or at sign-off.
The Guest account will not save any data. Back up any documents or downloaded media to a cloud backup solution (OneDrive, Google Cloud, iCloud) or USB storage device (Flash Drive or External HDD/SSD) before logging off the Guest account or rebooting the computer.
How to use the Guest account
- Wake up a computer or power a computer up. At the Windows log-on screen, look for "Guest" at the bottom left corner and select it.
- At the "Guest" account screen, select Sign In
After sign-in is complete, you will see the Desktop.
Once finished using the Guest account, you can sign out of the account or reboot the computer from the Start Menu.
