Student Account Access After Graduation

Most Ithaca College accounts and services discontinue shortly after a student's official separation date (graduation, withdrawal, etc.). While some services remain available for a limited period or transition to alumni access, many require action from the student before graduation.

Recommended Actions Before Graduation

Here is a summary of recommended actions to take before graduation: 

• Set up a personal (non-IC) email address if you haven't already. 
• Create free or paid personal accounts for tools you plan to keep using.
• Back up or move content from OneDrive, OneNote, Teams, Adobe, Canva, Kaltura, and Zoom.
• Download or save anything you want to keep from Canvas. 
• Transfer ownership of any Microsoft Teams, Forms, or other tools you manage. 

Adobe

• What changes: Access to Adobe applications (Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Creative Cloud for designated courses) ends upon graduation.
• Actions to take: Transition any files stored in Adobe Cloud storage to another account before graduation.
  • Visit https://graduation.adobe.com/ to seamlessly copy content from your IC account to a personal account.
• Personal-use options:

  • Paid: Purchase a personal Adobe Creative Cloud plan using a non-College email address (includes 100 GB storage). Learn more: Adobe Creative Cloud Plans, Pricing, and Membership​​​​

Canva

• What changes: You will lose access to Canva Pro about 30 days after graduation.
• Actions to take: Copy your designs and files to a personal Canva account before graduation. Learn more: Copy designs or files before graduating - Canva Help Center
• Personal-use options:
  • Free: Create a free Canva account using a non-College email address (includes 5 GB storage). Learn more: Canva Pricing: Compare Free, Pro, Business and Enterprise plans
  • Paid: Create a Canva Pro account using a non-College email address (includes 100 GB storage). Learn more: Canva Pricing: Compare Free, Pro, Business and Enterprise plans

Canvas

• What changes: You will lose access to Canvas about 30 days after graduation.
• Actions to take: Download or copy any data you wish to keep before graduation.

Email and Calendar (Outlook)

• Graduating students retain access to their Ithaca College email and calendar for one year after graduation through Outlook on the web.
  • After the first year, continued access requires an annual opt‑in.

Kaltura

• What changes: You will lose access to Kaltura (media.ithaca.edu) about 30 days after graduation.
• Actions to take: Download or copy any data you wish to keep before graduation.

Microsoft 365

• What changes: Access to Microsoft 365 applications (Office desktop applications, OneDrive, Teams, OneNote, Forms, and more) ends approximately 30 days after graduation.
• Actions to take: Transition any data stored in Microsoft 365 to another account before graduation.

Zoom

• What changes: IC Zoom accounts automatically transition from Licensed to Basic shortly after graduation.
  • A Basic Zoom account includes: Meetings with up to 100 participants, 40 minute meeting limit
• Actions to take: Download or move any recordings or data you wish to keep before graduation.
• Personal-use options: 
  • Free: Create a free basic Zoom account using a non-College email address. 
  • Paid: Purchase a Zoom license using a non-College email address.

• Note: Your IC Zoom account remains available through ithaca.zoom.us with a Basic license.
